Our Beliefs

Vision Statement

NCF exists to GROW UP in the gospel in order to GO OUT with the  gospel through members that flourish Queens, New York City, the World and the Next Generation by:

  1. Displaying their primary allegiance to Jesus

  2. Cultivating genuine relationships within their social networks (OIKOS) to share Jesus

  3. Wisely engaging the culture to promote an informed and inviting community of Jesus

Core Values

  1. The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the authoritative and infallible word of God thereby making it the foundation of our Christian faith. We believe that Scripture is the primary means in which we can know God and His will. We study the Word of God to apply its truths to be more Christ-like. We preach and teach from the Word of God so people can hear and receive the Gospel. We depend on the Word of God to judge what is true and what is false in our understanding of God, the gospel, the world and ourselves.

  2. GROW UP (Spiritual Growth)

We believe in order to bless the world, Christians must grow spiritually. This growth is measured in six crucial areas:

    • Godliness - The ability to live a moral and self-controlled lifestyle

    • Relational Competence - The ability to lovingly relate to people in every sphere of life (family, work, church, political, racial)

    • Outward Compassion - The ability to wisely serve the broken, forgotten and forsaken

    • Wisdom - The ability to live out the principles of Scripture and avoid being deceived by the worldviews of the secular culture

    • Universal Church Identity - The ability to honor and celebrate the rich historical and theological traditions of the universal church and to utilize them for spiritual growth and development

    • Prayerful - The ability to commune with God through prayer that strengthens our confidence that we can depend on God’s love and purposes for our lives

  3. The OIKOS Principle (Evangelism)

We believe that the best method of sharing our faith is to follow the pattern Jesus stated in Acts 1:8 by first prayerfully reaching out to people in our immediate social networks (OIKOS) and, through them, the whole world.

  4. M.E.T.S. (members equipped to serve)

We believe every member of God’s church is called to be a minister. This means the primary responsibility of the church is not to CARE for it’s members but to EQUIP it’s members for ministry. There are five core ministries that we believe all Christians must be equipped to do:

    • Personal Ministry to God - where a Christian learns to live for the “audience of One”

    • Ministry to Family - where Christians learn how to care and serve their families (spouse, children, extended family)

    • Ministry to Church - where Christians learn how to serve the body of Christ with their spiritual gifts

    • Ministry to Work - where Christians learn how to see their vocation as a ministry to serve the world

    • Ministry to the Broken, Forgotten and Forsaken (BFF) - where Christians learn to care for those who are in need for physical resources

  5. Worldview Engagement (Sex, Race, Politics, Common Good)

We believe the world is filled with deceptive and therefore harmful ideologies and narratives that result in conflict and chaos. God calls the church to be properly informed by the Scriptures to develop a biblical worldview to engage and challenge these worldly narratives to promote peace and stability to the world.

  6. Mercy Ministry (Ministering to the Poor)

We believe in response to the mercy we have received in Jesus Christ, we are to imitate Him in extending the same compassion of meeting physical needs first towards those in our worshipping community as well as generously giving to those who are broken, lost and forgotten outside of our community.

  7. City Movement (Collaborative Partnerships)

We believe there is only one church of Jesus Christ and every local church (including our own) is a particular manifestation of it. Therefore, to further the impact of the resources our local church has been given, we strive to work with other churches and para-church organizations to bless our city through a movement of collaboration.
